Noli de Castro couldn't have said it any better. how he became a devout to the feast of black nazarene is the perfect example of the filipino's attitude towards their spirituality. he said that he was waking down a street and saw a long line of people towards the church, and simply fell into the line most probably out of his own curiosity. well that was a no brainer, i bet he couldn't have cared less if the line would lead to a gas chamber for a sacrificial ritual, or worse, he din't care if he din't know it was a black statue of christ he was waiting in line for, maybe until his turn was up. what is the true reason why many come to quiapo and join in the feast? the crowd, the stampede and the danger of trying to get a hold of the statue that has been sitting idle inside the church all year long?
